Nova Residences of Quincy

Buildings & Real Estate Development
Geotechnical Engineering Studies, Preconstruction Consultation, Earthwork Observation & Testing

The project included one, 7-story, multi-unit residential building with a 1-story atrium building and a 10± x 10± pre-cast concrete culvert installed below the proposed atrium. Northeast Geotechnical performed design phase geotechnical engineering studies that included coordination and logging of soil test borings, laboratory testing on selected soil samples, and preparation of recommendations that included reinforcing the subgrade with rammed aggregate piers for foundation and slab-on-grade support based on the presence of urban fill and buried organic materials, underpinning of an adjacent building’s foundations, and subgrade preparation for the new culvert.

Northeast Geotechnical provided pre-construction consultation services that included plan and specification review, and ground improvement and underpinning design submittal review to see that our recommendations were properly interpreted and included.

We also provided follow up construction phase earthwork observation and soils testing services that included documentation of rammed aggregate pier installation, underpinning and tieback installation, and load testing of a rammed aggregate pier and tiebacks. Field density testing was performed during placement and compaction of fill to assess that satisfactory compaction percentages were achieved.
